This swing got me and my husband some much needed sleep!

I love this swing and so does my 10 week old son. It's got 6 different speed settings and a bunch of different sound effects. The sounds don't really sound like the things they are supposed to sound like, though the babbling brook one is okay. The music tracks are pretty good, though. If you read "The Happiest Baby on the Block", you know that babies love the sound of white noise - so even though my husband and I don't care for the sounds, baby does and that's all that matters. Mere minutes after putting our son in the swing and the white noise on, he is out for 6 hours. I do wish it came with a power plug, but it has been pretty good with the batteries (3 D batteries required) because we are able to set the swing to stay on for ten, twenty, or thirty minutes at a time with the timer feature. All in all, a great buy!

Durable, works good, features could be better

I have been using this swing for over three months and it has held up great. My son is now 15 pounds and has used it since we got home from the hospital at about 7 pounds. It has a large and deep seat and a large infant insert so it has always seemed like a good fit. He often sleeps in it and it has been great for reflux. We have only used what I think is the middle position (I just learned that it might recline further, although I have not been able to get it to do so yet). The most upright position is still too vertical for me to be comfortable letting him sleep in, so we haven't used it. He enjoys the music, but the nature sounds all sound similar to static so we don't use them. I like the timer but wish it had an option to set it for one hour to get him into a deep sleep (I just turn it off manually after one hour). It does not store easily in the folded position, but the folding makes it a little easier to move from room to room. It is fairly lightweight and the straps are easy to use. The mobile doesn't really get his attention, but that doesn't seem to matter. Battery life is good, we use a cd player instead of the music feature to conserve batteries. The seat cover is tight and a little bit tough to snap, but it is secure and washes easily.

Swing Option that goes to 30lbs - Overall Prefer the Fisher Price Cradle Swing

I purchased this swing for my daughter who is approaching the 25lb weight limit in her Fisher Price Cradle swing. The Fisher Price swing is still my favorite, but I saw no other real option for a swing that holds more weight. My daughter is light for her age (20 mos) but when she is sick, often the only way to get her to sleep and stay asleep is in her swing, thus we still use it. The Graco model is a nice swing and the way it supports underneath accommodates taller kids (the FP one has a swing bar behind the head and my daughter's head hits it now unfortunately). What I don't like on the Graco swing is how the harness works. It's much like her Graco high chair in that it has 5 point system - the shoulder straps (the FP one doesn't, it only has the lap harness) and lap/crotch straps but they are awkward with a sleeping baby to get into place. The crotch strap is even more awkward to use and seems a bit short - the pad falls off constantly. If you have a choice between the Graco and the Fisher Price Cradle swing - get the Fisher Price! The cover is also easily washable on the FP swing but on the Graco swing it was a bear just to put together and I do not look forward to eventually washing it.

Not really user friendly

I got two of these gates because I wanted something we could step over and also needed something our dogs couldn't chew up or climb over. We had the wood and mesh gates, but they chewed the mesh and used it as a "ladder" to climb. So with these metal gates, they can't do either.As for the gates themselves, I'm not at all fond of the locking mechanism. unlike the wooden gates where you select your width and then push down the pressure bar, on these there is a plastic clip with a metal "ball" that is supposed to lock into a particular hole (after you've selected your width) then you use a plastic (not very sturdy) pressure screw to tighten the gate. Hard to describe but with these gates as I tighten the pressure mechanism to tighten the gate against the walls, the metal ball or clip, whatever it is, pops out of place and the gate loosens up and falls down. I'm strongly considering returning them both.

Strong Gate and Great Value

I bought this gate about three months ago because it was a great price, offered the needed width, and thought it would be better then those cheap plastic expandable gates. This gate was extremely easy to set up and take down, and it is great to step over as well. I thought the metal would hold up better against kids and puppies and it has. I had experience with a cheap plastic expandable that got absolutely destroyed within weeks. It was chewed by our then puppies and not sturdy enough to keep our kids safe. Overall, this gate has held up better than expected and is a great price! I would defiantly recommend this gate.

This gate is just what i was looking for. I wanted metal, i wanted a tension gate and i wanted to be able to shut the door of the room without taking the gate down. I can step over it - I'm 5'4" - since i'm not a hurdler - i do have to be careful while stepping over it - but it can be done.

Best money we've spent on a baby "toy" so far!

My 6 month old daughter loves this jumper! She can not get enough of bouncing up and down. The toy attachments are great and keep her even more occupied. We've tried other jumpers at friends' houses and they are not the same. I suspect it's the toys hanging off the sides -just when she starts to get a little tired of the seat she'll "find" one of the toys and she's back jumping away. She'll happily bounce, spin and coo away giving me enough time to get dinner ready. My biggest complaint with this jumper is trying to get her out of it. It's a challenge because of the fabric seat and the bar over head, but it's easy to get the hang of it. I would buy this again in an instant. We joke it's the best thing we've bought for her so far.

out of control!

I will be returning this jumper and looking for a different model. We have a fisher price stand alone jumper...and my 6 month old son loves it. I thought he would love this too. Not so much. He leans to one side or the other and then only one foot it on the ground causing him to spin out of control like a teetering top. There is hardly any spring in it, so when he tries to bounce he just swings crazily in a circle. I tried everything...making it taller, making it shorter...nothing helped. After a few minutes he bonked his head on the doorframe of our super-wide double doorway (I had it hung in the middle). That was the end of that. I would recommend a jumper with a stand like a jumperoo or one without the horizontal bar construction that this one has, it seems like that is what makes it so unsteady.

Just what I wanted!

My Mom and I got this for my niece. This is exactly what we were looking for, and it was a great price. If you are looking for a "Johnny Jump Up" but this is the best one I found. The colors are bright can be used for a boy or girl which is a plus for grandparents. There are toys attached to it so the baby can play. The toys are teethers, rattlers and the mirror is great. It is easy to use and easy to get the baby out of. I couldn't have asked for a better jump up!

Good for an alternative to a large swing

I bought this swing at a big brick and mortar store in a different pattern, but the swing is the same. I bought it when I was on a trip away from home with my 4 month old and she wouldn't sleep in her Pack and Play for a nap. She is used to sleeping in a large Fisher Price Papasan swing for her naps, so off to the store I went to find a small swing that I hoped to be able to take home with me from my road trip. We will use it as a second swing in the kitchen or living room so we can keep her nap swing in our bedroom. Anyway, for a space saving or secondary swing it is pretty great. It has telescoping legs for two heights, the seat folds in half for storage and the legs fold in. Basically, the whole thing folds in half. It isn't the smallest item even when folded, but it fit in my mini van with heaps of luggage and other baby items with no problem. The toys that hang from the bar are cute, but just attached with velcro, so they can come off easily. The swing has a dial for the speed setting, but no "set" speeds. The seat has 3 positions, easily reclined with a one handed squeeze. One setting is almost completely reclined, which is great for sleeping. It also has a 5 point harness, something I found as overkill until my daughter recently began pushing backwards with her legs off her swing and bouncer. The 5 point harness keeps her securely in place. I also like that it is low as I tend to sit on the floor, so the swing on the low height setting keeps her at eye level with me.As for the noise other reviewers mention, I do not find it to be very noisy. In fact, my daughter sleeps better with a bit of noise, so I find it to be helpful. The only things I don't like about the swing are, number one, that it takes batteries instead of plugging in. Probably because it is a basic swing and portable. Number two, it doesn't have a positioner for the baby's head, so my daughter's head was flopping to the side. The FP swing has a built in "pillow" and her head stays in place. I am sure I could find an after market item for her head.No, this swing doesn't have music, lights, set speeds, etc. but it is meant to be a basic swing. Great for an apartment or as a secondary swing, or if you need something for travel. If you are like me, and your child takes regular naps in a swing, I would invest in something a bit more plush as long as you don't need to move a swing from room to room. Moving the huge FP Papasan swing is a real pain as it does not easily fit through doorways and it has a HUGE footprint so it takes up a ton of floor space. This swing takes up very little space. As long as your expectations are in the right place, I don't think this swing will be a disappointment!

Rechargeable Battery Secret

We're pretty happy with this swing for the price. I bought it knowing I would want to use rechargeable batteries. Otherwise you can easily spend the price of the swing in batteries (C cells are a buck each, this swing takes 4, they last for 4- 5 days under fairly consistent use).Most rechargeables these days are sold as AA batteries. You have to then purchase a C size shell (or spacer) to insert the AA batteries through. Here's the TRICK - AA batteries have much shorter positive terminal nipples than C batteries. If you buy rechargeable AA, then fit them into a C shell, the positive terminals won't actually reach the contacts in the battery housing to complete the circuit. Fortunately the fix is easy: take a pair of needle nose pliers and pop the positive wire coil contact out from under the plastic tab for each of the positive terminals. It will take less than a minute and the terminal coils are still firmly in place. This isn't messing with the integrity of the coils or doing any damage to the housing.Prior to realizing the contacts weren't touching, I purchased Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables and Powergenix rechargeables. I thought the Eneloops didn't work because of a voltage/amp issue (rechargeables are 1.2v instead of 1.5v for Alkalines). The Powergenix are 1.6v rechargeables. Turns out, it wasn't a voltage issue at all, it was just the terminal contact issue. So you can use Eneloop batteries or Powergenix, they both work well. I will test total life of them and maybe come back and update to provide a recommendation on which is best.There are a number of sources for the C shells, including buying a multipack of the Eneloop batteries that come with C shells. Better than what people are saying!!!

Reviews I read before ordering this product were not good, however, the swing is great!! The people who are complaining about it being too loud, a battery sucker or just too "boring" for their child are looking at baby swings in the wrong way. This is my 2nd graco swing and I only ordered this one because the one I had before finally died after 5 years and 4 kids!! Baby swings are going to make SOME noise and if you leave your baby in it 70 percent of the time the batteries are going to die after only a couple of days(maybe try holding your baby instead of always letting them swing!). I'll admit the 2 elephants for "entertainment" are lame, but so few babies look at those things anyways. Sorry to be so harsh about past reviews, but this swing really isn't as bad as people are saying and doesn't deserve only 3 stars!!

He said it was "no problem" to put together. The pieces went together intuitively and the instructions were easy to follow.We currently have a Graco Glider Petite, which is a more compact version of this swing. The one big issue I have with it is the horrible quality of the speaker. I was more than a little nervous when we fired this one up and I heard the familiar tune. Happily, this swing speaker is MUCH better. Not only is the speaker decent, but while some swings have a high/low option only for volume, this swing has a completely adjustable volume.As with the Petite, the seat is very plush and deep, so I feel like the baby is very secure in the swing, even without the easy-to-use five point harness system. The weight recommendations for this swing is between 5.5 lbs and 30 lbs. My daughter is 7 months and almost 18 lbs and fits comfortably in the swing. I wish the manual included a suggested length maximum, but only says to discontinue use when infants "attempts to climb out or reaches 30 pounds."This full sized swing rocks with a left to right motion. The seat is set up in a locked position. (I only mention this because some swings of this type have swiveling seats.) The entire seat removes from the swing and doubles as a bouncer. I love this feature. When you have a child, you will find that your living room, your entire house, becomes swamped with baby things. You will be amazed at how much stuff you "need" for a child. Having a bouncer that sits in the swing means you have one less thing to trip over on the floor. My daughter enjoys being in the swing and has no trouble falling asleep while swinging.Unlike many infant swings, this one has both a battery and wall outlet option. This is really nice as you will find that once you become a parent, you will buy more batteries then you ever thought any household would need. The swing itself can plug into the wall, however the bouncer only works on batteries.Overall, I'm thrilled with this swing, as is my daughter.

Solid Construction, easy to use. Well made

This is a great swing for baby. Well made, fairly easy to put together, with features that will make it easy to accommodate your needs.First, assembly is fairly easy. The only hitch is when assembling the seat, it is a bit tricky to insert the legs and then put the two pieces of the seat together. You need a philips screwdriver, getting the screws to match up is slightly tricky. After that assembly is a piece of cake and the whole process should take less than 20 minutes.The whole item is quite large, though the seat can disconnect and act as a bouncing seat so you can take it with you. The seat not only acts as a bouncer, but when connected to the swing arm acts as a gentle swing for baby. The seat also can recline or be set up more for a more upright position.The seat also has a vibration feature with two settings. Low or High vibration. This feature REQUIRES two D batteries (not included).The easy to understand controls control music, with decent sounding gentle songs. The control knob allows you to set swing speed from 1-6. The swing operates very quietly and swings side to side.It also features a small mobile for baby's viewing pleasure.The swing can run on half a dozen D batters (again, not included) or run off AC wall power with the included adapter. Since this swing is large, we just leave it plugged in at all times.The seat also has covers for the straps. They easily come off, and I found myself just removing them rather than always trying to find them. The straps can be adjusted as your baby grows and it also includes a padded head rest.Overall, a well built swing with great features and easy to use and assemble.

Great swing/bouncer, terrible assembly instructions

The is the second Graco-brand infant swing that I have tried out since the first of the year. This DuetConnect LX is significantly better than the Graco Glider Petite LX, even though the DuetConnect retails for only forty dollars more. It is well worth the upgrade for a better quality swing with bouncer.At the outset, however, I have to criticize Graco for offering yet another product with very confusing assembly instructions. Like the Glider Petite LX, this DuetConnect requires a great deal of painstaking assembly with instructions that appear to have been written by someone largely unfamiliar with the product. A team of two to three adults worked on this off-and-on for a couple of frustrating hours before we finally got it all together. For a long time, we all suspected that we had been shorted four screws -- another reviewer, I noticed, thought this also -- only to find them "hidden" alongside other materials. Finally, after a great deal of effort, we got this together, and that's where this review improves.Both the swing and bouncer functions are great and very entertaining for my seven-month-old. Like most swings, this one can work off batteries or by plugging it into the wall, and like most swings, this offers an optional vibration function. I have found that my daughter rarely falls asleep in a swing unless the vibration is turned on. So far, she has twice fallen asleep and slept quite peacefully in this DuetConnect, and she seems much less restless than she did in the Graco Glider Petite LX. Graco makes quality products, some more than others, but they really need to work on better assembly instructions. For a few hours, I was preparing to write a scathing one-star review. Still, I have to recommend this compared to other swing/bouncer combos on the market.
